Survival First Aid

Prepare yourself for the unexpected with this fun, hands-on introduction to wilderness first aid, taught over two days. It is targeted to the outdoor enthusiast on day trips or short adventures. The course is delivered in Kaeng Krachan (about 2.30 hours from Bangkok in the Petchaburi province) by professionals (American Heart Association and former military – French Foreign Legion) with significant medical and hostile environment experience.

Audience

For companies / team building or individuals who would like to learn how to survive and respond to medical emergencies in the wild or remote areas. If you like to take trips relatively far to medical resources, work at wilderness camps, enjoy weekend family outdoor activities, or recreate outdoors, this course is for you. Group booking minimum 5 participants.

Course Format & Completion card

Course duration: 2 training days.
Course structure: Students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations in the wilderness (jungle). Students work with an American Heart Association Instructor and former military to complete skills practice.
Pedagogic tools: participant manual.
Certification: Participants will be given a First Aid CPR AED (International certificate from American Heart Association or local certificate from Bangkok First Aid) and a Wilderness Survival course completion card after successful completion of training, and valid for 2 years.

08:00-08:15_ WELCOME, RECEPTION_ Camp 1 (Alyssa’s cottage)
08:15-08:45_ PRESENTATION & INTRODUCTION of the 2 days course_ Camp 1 – Classroom
08:45-10:45_ CPR & AED_ Camp 1 – Classroom
10:45-11:30_ PREPARING MISSION_ Camp 1 – Classroom_Geolocation (paper maps, Google earth, Google maps, GPS, smart phone applications), Local Wildlife – Jungle South East of Asia (internet), Weather forecast (internet), Health – Personal Health Check (preexisting medical conditions, allergies, medications)

Spinal injury management
Splints for dislocations and fractures
Slinks for broken arms
Transportation by stretcher – transportation of the casualty on an improvised stretcher for 100 – 200 meters
